The route is designed to be taken with both Gravel bikes and Road bikes. The route is varied and develops on cycle paths, white roads, secondary asphalted roads, and trails.
Over the years, participants in the Francigena Bike Adventure have taken part with any type of bicycle: cyclocross, MTB, fatbike, enduro; if you don't have a gravel bike, it's not a problem!
The event will take place with start and finish in CASTIGLIONE DELLA PESCAIA, PROVINCE OF GROSSETO IN BIKEPACKING MODE.
Participants can choose from 4 different participation modes:
1-The Francigena and the Etruscan paths of Maremma - Grand Tour: includes a total of 450 km with +6,400 metres of positive elevation.
2-The Francigena and the Etruscan paths of Maremma - Tour: covers 210 kilometres with +1500 metres of elevation.
3-Maremma Experience long: includes 89 km with +1200 metres of positive elevation.
4-Maremma Experience short: includes 63 km with +600 metres of positive elevation.
For routes 1 and 2, two GPS tracks will be available: Road, Gravel.
For route 3, two GPS tracks will be available: Road, Gravel.
For route 4, only Gravel GPS track.
YES, the choice must be made at the time of registration.
The organisation will provide the tracks anyway, and you can freely follow whichever one you want.
At the finish, the structure of the Francigena Bike Adventure will welcome you in the best way, ready to meet every need. During opening hours, you will always find our staff, ready with a smile to hand you your diploma, offer you the chance for a refreshing shower, and let you taste the finisher menu for free. If you arrive at night, outside the hours indicated in the guide, you may not find places open to eat.
